Migrating to the Future: How Nimbus Shift Delivered a Secure and Scalable GCP Landing Zone for Enterprise Transformation

Our client — a major player in the logistics sector — faced mounting challenges:

Fragmented infrastructure across multiple data centers.

Limited visibility into IT operations and spend.

Growing compliance requirements (ISO 27001, GDPR).

Ambition to adopt AI/ML and data analytics at scale.

They needed a modern cloud foundation that could support innovation without compromising control. That’s where Nimbus Shift came in.

A Landing Zone is a set of configurations, policies, and infrastructure blueprints that provide a secure starting point for cloud adoption. It ensures:

“ At Nimbus Shift, we use a modular, automated Landing Zone framework — built on Terraform and aligned with Google’s best practices — to ensure fast, repeatable deployments. “

Discovery & Assessment:
We began by conducting a full inventory of the client’s workloads, application dependencies, and overall security posture. This comprehensive assessment enabled us to understand the existing IT landscape and identify risks and opportunities. We then performed a detailed risk and cost analysis using Google’s Cloud Adoption Framework to guide the migration strategy. Landing Zone Deployment:
Next, we deployed a scalable GCP Landing Zone. This included setting up an organization-level resource hierarchy with structured folders for production, development, and shared services. We configured identity federation with Azure Active Directory via Cloud Identity, deployed a shared VPC, and defined firewall policies with subnet segmentation to ensure secure networking. Audit logs, VPC flow logs, and organization policies were activated to meet compliance and monitoring requirements. Finally, we implemented cost allocation mechanisms using budgets and departmental labels for effective financial governance.
